  • May Service – The Spring & Activity – Scavenger Hunt

    • Saturday, May 30
    • 10 AM
    • The Spring Donation Center – 209 N. Willow Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33606

This month we’re combining the May Service and May Activity into one great event.

Get ready for the most fun you’ve ever had at a service event! We’re asking you to help us collect clothing and supplies for The Spring, a shelter for women as well as men and boys.

Scavenge through your closests, drawers, pantries and cupboards for any unwanted clothing, non-perishable food, shelter supplies and educational supplies. You can see The Spring’s a full wish list at http://www.thespring.org/wishlist.

Then bring your booty to The Spring’s donation center on Willow Avenue.

After you make your donation, we’re setting out on a Scavenger Hunt! We’ll be grouped into teams and head out completing a list of challenges. Don’t worry, none of the challenges are hard or physically intensive, but some will make you think (or use a little help from the web). A complete list of the rules will be provided with your list of challenges. Afterwards, we’ll all meet up for the victory celebration and lunch.

A great prize will be awarded to the winning team! Also, be sure to bring your fully charged smart phone (only 1 needed per team), the challenges require pictures as proof of completion.

    *Notes

Please be on time so we can start the scavenger
hunt on time with all teams

There is no limit to the number of people we can have, so bring your friends!

Participants are responsible for their own lunches.

    Carpooling is encouraged.

  • Art Exchange for the ArtsXchange – Public Service Event

    • Thursday, April 30, 2014
    • 6:00 pM – 9:030 PM
    • The ArtsXchange – 515 22nd Street South, St. Petersburg, FL

The ArtsXchange, a non-profit arts group in St. Petersburg, needs 15 volunteers to help them staff an Art Exchange event. Volunteers will help with parking and directions, check-ins, the art swap, and the silent and live auctions.

If you can’t volunteer, you might want to attend. Here’s the event information.

You loved your art, but now you’ve grown apart.
So bring that art to an event where you can exchange it for something you like better — the Art Exchange for the ArtsXchange.

Your ticket is the art you bring (one or more pieces you would like to exchange). If you don’t want to exchange art, come and make a $10 donation in support of the renovations at the ArtsXchange. Only people that bring art can participate in the exchange, but everyone is welcome to take part in silent and live auctions of new art in many mediums.

Food and beverages available from The International Dumpling Truck and The Amsterdam St. Pete.
Proceeds will benefit renovations of the ArtsXchange warehouses into affordable studio space for artists, the performing arts, and an environment for arts lovers to learn about and enjoy their passion.

Art Exchange — If you have art in any medium you want to swap, bring your art to the event on April 30th before 7 p.m. The swap will begin at 7:15 p.m. Getting there sooner than later increases the chances of seeing what’s available to pick from during the swap period.

Live and Silent Auctions – Artists can help build the ArtsXchange by donating art for the auctions (art valued at $250 or more). Please call Larry Biddle at 813-417-1225 or email him at larryjbiddle@me.com and register with to make that donation. Art donors are admitted free and can receive a portion of the winning bid amount up to 50%.

  • 5th Annual Kickball for Kids

    • Saturday, April 25, 2014
    • 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
    • Hyde Park Fields – at the Corner of Albany and Swann Avenue. Tampa, FL

Kickball for Kids is back for its fifth year. Just like last year, this is a donate-what-you-can event for a day of kickball fun, a catered lunch from Ciccio Cali, drinks from Pepsi and other fun surprises.

Our charity this year is Feeding America’s Kid’s Backpack Program which provides free, easy-to-prepare, weekend meals for kids eligible for a school’s free or reduced lunch program. In many cases, this backpack of food is all a kid will have to eat over the weekend.

Kickball for Kids will also feature a 50/50 raffle and a raffle for a $200 gift card to The Lodge. After the games, we’ll head over to the The Lodge to celebrate the winners and losers (and really everyone is a winner since all the money raised is going to help feed needy kids right in our community.)
